This is the first draft of my double page spread (dps). The successful thing about my double page spread is the image that it has the background of the brick, which then I have related to the font of their name, which goes really well. Also the font of The Attack looks like it has attacked as some of the text has broken off. Also the image was taken in a alley way and there could be a message behind as it makes it look like it is never ending which could mean that the band will never break up. The text under the band names in in a brown colour, which relates to the brick wall, which makes the image and the text link. The question are good that they are not the ones that you would expect to ask a band, so will attract the audience to read it. As I was researching and looking at other double page spreads I realized that there was a pattern between the majority of magazines. That they have an image on one side and the text on the other. Which I have followed that traditional double page spread. There are things that I would change of my double page spread. I noticed that there was a spelling mistake (gentleman), which I did not see, so I’ll have to change that. The page numbers that are in the top left and right hand side corner, just look like they are floating so I might have to put them at the bottom of the page and also the font that the page numbers are in looks it doesn’t relate to the double spread, so I might change it to the font in which it says The Attack in. The questions and answers are in three columns, I did insert two lines to separate but they aren't visible as I though they were so I would have to change the weight of the two lines to make it visible. Also in the second columns there is space at the bottom which makes it look empty compared to the other two, so I might insert some text or something to make it look full.

1st draft of contents page
This is the first draft of my contents page. There are some things that look good. For example I like the way that I have done the magazines mashed smaller then I wrote contents because mostly magazines write contents on the top of the contents page. I think how the images are positioned looks very effective as The Attacks lead singer is placed top left hand corner and then Chagger Cohen is placed on the bottom right hand corner. The reason why I have put these two pictures there is too create a Good VS Bad perspective. I have continued with my house style (white, red and black) throughout the contents page, which makes it look professional. The way in which I have done the page numbers at the beginning then the articles looks good because it stands out by using the colour red. I like the way that the articles are based around the images and not the other way round because it is the images that the audience will see first then they will read the articles. In my opinion I like that I have included a subscription box because it makes it look like a authentic contents page. Also the articles that were included on my front cover, I have used them in the contents page but if I didn’t the magazine would look inadequate. The research that I done before hand, had a huge impact because it helped me understand what features a content page needs. In my view that the two images I have used have both included props ( a guitar and beer) because it makes it look original and it doesn't make the magazine look phony. There are things that I would definitely for the contents page. For example the plain white background looks boring and dull, I would change to a solid colour or put effects on the background with two or colours. The number 18 s not aligned with the other numbers making it look unprofessional. The text for the subscription is positioned at the top; I will lower it down to middle so it doesn't look like it's been cut off. It might be difficult for the audience to identify what pictures go with which article, so I might put the name of the artist near or underneath the image stating who it is. Although it is good that I have inserted a subscription box, by reading the sentence it doesn't make sense. It also might be confusing to the audience what the editor’s top stories are so I might out a black or red box to identify what the top stories from the editor are. Throughout the content page I have only used the colours red and black, I might introduced another colour (grey) to make it stand out.
1st draft of magazine front cover
This is the first draft of my front cover. What I think that has been a success for my front cover is the house style (grey, red, black and white), which is related to the image by the T-shirt he is wearing. I also think that all the colours stand out especially the white. I find that the layout of my magazine does look like a music magazine, which is a positive, because if I challenge the codes and conventions it will look too different, and the audience might be put off it. I like the way that I gave done my barcode with the price, date and website underneath, in my opinion I think that looks professional. In my view that the plus sign that is in the bottom left hand corner is very unique and I think that there is no point of inserting any text to identify what it is because I think it is self-explanatory. I have followed the traditional codes and conventions of a magazine by putting the date and the issue number underneath the masthead. I think that the research i done before hand of front covers have extremely helped, as I had some idea of what a front cover looked like. In my view I liked how I put the left side third on the right for two reasons because it fills that empty space in background and it is very different as people usually put it on the left whereat is supposed to go. I like the way that I have positioned the artist’s names at the bottom of the page instead of the top because it looks different and unique. As there is a quote on my front cover, when the audience read my double page spread they will be able to identify that this is where the quote is from linking the front cover to the contents page. There are many things that I need to change. The hair on the image looks very edited which would make the audience very wary of my magazine as they might think it is artificial. I personally don't think my masthead is very rock and roll, I think that is more suitable for a Hip-Hop or R&B. So I am going to change the name of my magazine. Where the text says "Exclusive Interview" it clashes with the red on the T Shirt and I think that the audience will find it hard to see what it says. Although the plus sign looks good, I think I would have to change the colour, yet again because it clashes with the black sleeve on the T Shirt, I think I would change to grey, as it might clash with the background I would put a thin black outline so it stands out and it doesn't converge with the background. The sides lines need to be altered, as they are not in line, which makes it, look unprofessional. Same again that I would change the colour of the artists names as it clashes with the red text in the T Shirt.
